Purpose Increase of blast furnace cast iron heat campaign while preserving production level due to preventing sculling of furnace metal receiver. FeO contained in briquette oxidizes carbon in metal receiver transforming it to gaseous form, which destroys conglomerates of graphite-coke buildups, with subsequent their withdrawal together with liquid products of the heat.

Application advantages If effecting regular washes:

  • tuyere burnouts are stopped;
  • metal receiver volume restores;
  • temperature fluctuations are reduced and output of heat products is stabilized;
  • cold air blast flow increases and stabilizes.

Except that, using of washing briquette reduces well obstruction, which entails:

  • increased blast furnace productivity (every 10 kg of washing briquettes per ton of cast iron permit to increase productivity by 0,9% – according to data of “EkoMashGeo” LLC),
  • reduction of coke consumption (every 10 kg of washing briquettes per ton of cast iron permit to reduce coke consumption  by 0,1% – according to data of “EkoMashGeo” LLC),
  • decrease of furnace downtime due to tuyere burnouts (number of burned tuyeres reduced by 2,5 times – according to data of “EkoMashGeo” LLC).

Chromium ores, chromites are natural mineral formations containing chrome in such compounds and concentrations that make their industrial usage technically possible and economically viable. All chrome ores consist of chromite mineral, containing mainly iron and chrome oxides and corresponds to formula FeO-Cr203, with contents 68% Сr2О3 and 32% FeO. Best grades of chrome ores contain 42 — 56% Сг203 and 10 — 26% FeO.

Metallurgical chromite usually should contain at least 48% Сг2Оз with chrome to iron ratio 3:1. Usually hard coarse ore is preferred, but for certain applications in metallurgy it is possible to use soft ore or chromite concentrate.

For production of briquettes as bonding material may be used both liquid glass and other, less expensive and easier available components, depending on customer specification.

Increased amount of slag in case of using bonding materials is compensated by improvement of heat exchange in the furnace due to better gas permeability of charge, which also seriously reduces dust removal with exit gases.

Purpose: Chrome ore briquettes are used for production of ferrochrome.

Briquettes possess high resistance during ferrochrome melting in purification or ore-smelting furnaces, which improves ferrochrome production parameters.

Advantages:

  • When operating on briquettes there are no limitations on chemical composition of chrome ore; it is possible to use ores containing 5—6 % Si02 and more, which usually form build-ups in rotary furnace.
  • Chrome ore briquettes are good charge material for ferrochrome silicon production.
  • Increase of share of lump ore for high-carbon ferrochrome production.
  • When using 20% of briquettes and 50% of lump ore in chrome raw materials, melting furnace power will increase from 13,7 MW to 14,4 MW.
  • Briquetting chrome ore concentrate fraction 0-1 mm shall permit to significantly widen enterprise ore base.
  • Increase of commercial chrome production.
  • Usage of chrome-containing dust of gas purifiers.

Briquette composition:

  • Iron ore materials (concentrate, sintering ore) and/or iron-containing waste (scale, flue dust, blast furnace agglomerated pulp, etc.) – 0-80%
  • Coke smalls – up to 20%

Purpose Reduction of raw materials costs in cast iron production in blast furnaces, and also usage of iron-containing waste (flue dust and blast furnace agglomerated pulp).

Application advantages:

  • Reduction of coke consumption
    • when using briquettes (total iron content 52,5%) 182,8 kg/t of cast iron actual consumption of coke reduced by 27,3 kg/t of cast iron – according to data of «ChMZ» JSC
    • each 10 kg of washing briquettes per ton of cast iron permit to reduce coke consumption by 0,3% – according to data of EkoMashGeo,
  • reduction of iron ore materials consumption
    • when using при использовании брикетов briquettes (total iron content 52,5%) 182,8 kg/t of cast iron consumption of Kachkanar mining and processing combine pellets reduced by 115,8 kg/t of cast iron – according to data of «ChMZ» JSC.
  • recycling metallurgical waste
    • in composition of briquettes (667,8 t) 55% of chemical waste of ferroalloy production at «ChMZ» JSC, which were taken from waste dumps, were used. The result of briquette usage – extraction of additional 0,5 t of pure vanadium – according to data of «ChMZ» JSC.
  • economic effect
    • during nine days (period from 04.04.06 to 12.04.06) in production of 3653,37 tons of cast iron тонн 667,8 tons of briquettes were used, which brought economic effect of 2918,0 thousand rubles (in prices of July 2008) at account of:
      • additional extraction of vanadium to cast iron 0,99 tons;
      • savings of 423,1 tons of Kachkanar mining and processing combine pellets;
      • savings of 99,8 tons of coke.

Briquettes have “cushion”-like form 30 – 45 mm thick and 60 – 75 mm in diameter. Briquette volume is 60 – 90 cm³.

Purpose:

Briquettes based on scale and soda is used during blowing vanadium cast iron in converters at duplex facilities, with results of semi-product and vanadium slag after blowing. Briquettes has high oxidation capability, which is proven by low residual element content in liquid semi-product  (V, Сr) and high contents of V2O5 in slag.

Application advantages:

  • Briquettes based on scale ~ 90% and soda ~ 10% may be used as hard oxidize of converter heat instead of Bessemer agglomerate and Kachkanar pellets, improving process parameters of converter heat and providing for satisfactory process properties of vanadium converter slag
  • .Usage of briquettes based on scale and soda as hard oxidizer during devanadation of cast iron in converters is technologically and economically effective, which is proven by improvement of cast iron blowing parameters.

Briquetted charcoal is made of fragmented and pressed birch charcoal. Composition of the briquette includes ecologically clean binding material (molasses), briquette is pillow-formed. The briquettes does not contain any other (to say nothing of the harmful) substances. Recommended for cooking shish-kebabs, grilled food, barbeque, etc. Excellent fuel for charcoal grills, stoves, chimneys, all kinds of fireplaces, for heating tents, green-houses. Equals by heat emission to more than 3 kg of large coal or more than 10 kg of ordinary birch firewood. Burns 1,5 – 2,5 longer than usual charcoal.

Application recommendation:

  • Pour briquettes with special ignition liquid and let it impregnate the briquette for 1 minute.
  • Set fire. Briquette is ready for use in 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Burning time up to 5 hours.

Fluorite (fluorspar), mineral CaF2. Density 3180-3200 kg/m3. Hardness by mineralogical scale – 4.

Fluorite or fluorspar is a mineral (calcium fluoride), demanded product used in metallurgical and chemical industries. Its name is derived from Latin “fluo” meaning “flowing”. The mineral represents fragile crystals of various colors: from yellow to deep-purple and black. Its rare colorless kinds are used in optics. Sometimes this mineral has infusion of uranium, thorium, other rare earths.

Fluorspar assists in forming fusible slags in alloy production. It is also used for production of fluoride, various fluoride compounds, fluoride (fluorhydric) acid HF and cryolite Na3AlF6, used in aluminium industry; as flux in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy; component of glasses, enamels, glazes.

We have developed briquetting method of fluorspar concentrate, experimental lot produced which has successfully passed the tests.

Purpose:

Common fluorspar ore, lump and briquetted fluorspar concentrate are intended for usage at aluminium and cryolite combines, cement plants.

In ferrous metallurgy is used as desulphurizing components in production of steel and cast iron to obtain given basicity of slag, hot melt thinner (to obtain free-running slag with high sulfur absorption capacity).

Briquette composition: Briquette is made of small fractions of carbon materials (coke, semi-coke, anthracite, petcoke, coal, charcoal) determining its parameters. The result is briquette optimal for the customer by its parameters (ash content, volatiles, sulfur content, heat-producing value, etc.). As bonding agent usually molasses is used.

Purpose: briquettes may be used for industrial needs at metallurgical and chemical enterprises, for household, and also as energetic raw material at electric power stations. Usage of coal briquettes permits to solve issues of quality fuel supplies.

Application advantages: reduction of costs on the corresponding materials, usage of siftings of bought materials. In a number 0of cases briquette has better parameters than lump material.
